Prose 'n Poetry Corner

Each month I will look through my notebooks and find a little bit of prose 'n poetry. Often written in a few minutes, so please don't expect Wordsworth, but hopefully these entries will provide a little interlude in your day. A chance to think and ponder, to daydream or to visualize, to perhaps see things in a different light.

Please see what you think and let me know if it is useful or not - highlights some valuable points but in a lighter vein . . .

To love is to risk loss
to be a friend is praise indeed
be concerned and give a 'toss'
is on what a lot of human life does feed

We all like to win and not lose
do our best, do what we choose
life, however, likes to have its say
remember it does give you breath each and every day

Are we with life in sync
are we giving as well as receiving
are we in control do we need a hint
are we living and being or just 'a-doing'?

We can look at life from afar
do we laugh and enjoy the ha ha
of life and all of its opportunities
do we feel blessed and see all of the possibilities?

Do we know whether to laugh or cry
do we know whether to say hello or goodbye
are we willing to put one foot ahead of the other
seize your change or it may go to another

Each month there will be an article, with fresh content, that goes into a subject in a little more detail. Perhaps give a different stance. Perhaps provide food for thought. Perhaps . . .

This month a different theme.

Act and move on

Know when to act and move on.

Get in there, get the job done and then move onto other things.

Do not get hung up on what you do.

You do need to be focused, committed, determined and apply yourself. Just do not get hung up on it all.

Things come and things go.

What seems important today will not be so in a year's time. Maybe not even a day's time.

So why do we get into things so much?

Do they really mean that much to us? Or is it that we feel our worth is attached to the outcome or the effort?

Are they really that meaningful? Are they cementing our place in the world and what we should be doing?

Some people never look back. It may seem difficult not to at times, but some people certainly give this a good try.

Others cannot help themselves. They dwell in the past all the time. Trying to relive what occurred. Or trying to relive what occurred in the past - but continuing (or trying to) to live it all again in the here and now.

We all have responsibilities - to ourselves and to others. But once something is done, it is done. It cannot be undone. At least in the sense of being erased from memory, erased from existence.

That may happen in the movies but in real life . . . ?

Sure we can try to make amends. We can rectify, we can adapt. We can change, we can transform.

We can feel remorse, sorry, regret, disappointment, but we have to move on.

But can we really undo something. Unlike a word processor which has the undo button (or is it Ctrl + Y or Z) but we do not.

Words spoken. Deeds orchestrated. Actions performed. Thoughts made manifest before their time.

They are now there (for all to see).

We can change the new set of circumstances but we cannot go back in time and erase them or try another route forward.

So why do we often try?

Learn to live in the here and now - and you will literally not have to look back!
