Let Prose Put Empowerment Firmly In Your Life

Empowerment can be a part of our everyday life. With it comes the ability to express ourselves in thought, word and deed in the manner that we would like. It gives us the confidence to act and get the job done and the motivation to give as well as to receive. To help us play a part in the world in which we live. But at times we may have questions. We may have a need to put things into perspective for ourselves, to ponder, think and reassess - what we do, who we are, what we stand for. At times like these words can be very powerful - healing, soothing, comforting, relaxing . . .

The power of words . . .

As we read we can let the words gently flow over us. We can let the words quietly be spoken to us in there own sweet way. We can let ourselves open to the thoughts and their meanings, the ideas and their origin, the phrases and the understandings that they have ready for us. Ready for us to assimilate and take on board. If we let them filter through and allow the words their power to move and rejuvenate. If we let ourselves be uplifted and filled with their sometimes hidden insights. Too gently and slowly to impact on our lives as we read - and in the future when we recall their meaning for us.

I hope this page will do this and more. I hope this example will help to express life in an insightful, penetrating but easy to read manner. And help us to question the lives we lead and the manner in which we live them.

Empowerment in life is nothing without control
it gives us confidence and allows us to extol
our strengths, values and talents if we use them well
for the good of all we can help to expel

Negative thoughts and deeds and helps us to propel
ourselves forwards into enjoying life and be able to say farewell
to aspects and angles we would do well to leave behind
and in us contentment and happiness we can find.

We just need to be careful and neither gloat or brag
of our new found energy and vitality for that would be a drag
and isolate us from our friends and loved ones in a way
we would not wish to happen today or any day

For empowerment comes with a need to command
the talents and abilities at our disposal and to make amend
for any shortfall we have created in this our life's path
for we need to leave those deficiencies behind, we can do the math

And realize that the power we have gives us a mandate
to help and assist but by no means frustrate
the people we love or those we work with
lest we be seen as arrogant, deceitful, our good works a myth

For life gives us permission in her own way
to allow us influence in the things that we say
and understanding in our thoughts and in our feelings
if we grasp the nettle and have no misgivings

About the things that we do to aid and to help others
we should be doing our best and avoid any blunders
for power and influence may start to cloud our judgment
all sense of fair play and love we can find to be absent

Having flown the nest and gone its own way
because empowerment is nothing if we let decay
our sense of loyalty, honesty and integrity
without which our life may never give mastery

Over the finer points of life and its experience
proficiency is one thing but can it influence
the way that we live and the way that we act
and the way that we respond is the way we react

To personal circumstance and situation whatever they bring
without control and values they will have their own sting
in the tail, and how easily they can come back to haunt us
if we take the dark route and not the path to justice

In our lives we will find that empowerment has its own curse
and will not brighten our life and indeed might make it worse
if we deal with it flippantly and without due care
others will see our acts and sit back and stare

And wonder why we have gone off the rail
in life, deed, thought and action, so easy to curtail
the goodness and honesty that we so wished to portray
may not stay around if we lose sight of our path and leave it that way.
