Invite Surprise Into Your Life By Tackling Life Head On

Is your life full of excitement and surprise? Do you look forward to each day?

You wake up each morning and the day starts. Does it fill you with anticipation or dread? Do you look forward to new adventures or look back on past exploits?

Our lives are obviously a mixture of the new and the old, the future and the past. But stuck in the middle is that moment called now. The here and now. In my life I am NOW tapping away on the keyboard putting thoughts to paper.

And the surprise here is that each time I start I have this experience that what comes out, or at least the direction the words are taking, is a surprise to me. While I have thought about and considered the topic, the actual path and substance that the words create - this is new to me.

And the same in our lives. Each day comes. The weather may be much the same and the day looks like any other. But then it starts to chart its own course.

Each day takes on a flavor of its own. Sometimes we like this, other times it is a challenge or hurdle.

And what can we do? We can sit and complain (to whom?) or sit up and take notice and see what life has in store for us and what we need to do.

Mostly life runs on an even keel. But every now and again we stop in our tracks. A revelation or jolt has happened. The unexpected crosses our path.

A bolt from the blue if you wish. Something we had not predicted nor expected. And can we now adapt to this new situation, or will it get the better of us? One of life's challenges for us.

Day or night things can occur that make us look on in astonishment or amazement. From the birds in the garden feeding and chattering together, to seeing a full moon in the sky after a week of cloudy evenings.

Nature can surprise us. People and situations can affect us in the same way. And we can surprise ourselves.

Yes, we don't seem to know all there is about us. Our favorite subject or just something close to home that we feel comfortable with.

But there is much in our own lives and within ourselves that can astound us and make us think. Is there more to this life that we have?

Do we feel the harmony within? Do we register the breath in and the next breath out? Do we feel the stillness inside in the quiet of an evening? Do we feel the contentment and satisfaction that lies within during the heat of action, when we are embroiled in day to day events, trying to keep our head above the parapets?

There is much in life to confound and astound us. None greater than the life we have within.

From within can come the greatest surprises and revelations. We can be staggered and stunned, amazed and exhilarated by the happenings of life and our responses to them.

Let us just be awake each moment to be in a receptive state so that the wonders and joys of life do not quietly pass us by. Rather that we see and feel them, hear and taste them and see that life is good.

The power of words . . .

Words can be healing, soothing, comforting, relaxing . . .

I hope this page will do this and more. I hope these examples will help to express life in an insightful, penetrating but easy to read manner. And help us to question the lives we lead and the manner in which we live them.

Is life full of surprise
full of delight and much that applies
to us as we go about our day
much to amaze us now and today

We can look out and then see
the flavors, tastes, sights for you and me
all to excite, make joyful, and the beauty
to help us to see life and its wondrous bounty

All around us we only have to look
raises our spirits and our outlook
enthuses us with life and energy
with nature, life we can feel a synergy

At work now and forever
before us and always to deliver
something for us if we are aware
feel, touch, hear, or sit and stare

At what life has for us in store
much to excite and much to adore
much to enjoy and make us feel one
come awake, your life today has just begun

All best,
Martin
