Our Values Help Us To Live And Make Our Mark
Values - can we live with them, can we live without them? What do they mean to us? What are they? How well do we follow them? Do they make us or break us? Our principles can give us direction in life. We can show we respect ourselves and see our own self worth. The benefits can affect all parts of our everyday life. But at times in our lives we feel tension and pressures and have other emotions to cope with. We need to put 'our' values in their rightful place in our life. To put things into perspective for ourselves we will question and ponder, think and reassess - what we do, who we are, our tensions and anxieties, ourselves. At times like these words can be very powerful - healing, soothing, comforting, relaxing . . . The power of words . . . As we read we can let the words gently flow over us. We can let the words quietly be spoken to us in there own sweet way. We can let ourselves open to the thoughts and their meanings, the ideas and their origin, the phrases and the understandings that they have ready for us. Ready for us to assimilate and take on board. If we let them filter through and allow the words their power to move and rejuvenate. If we let ourselves be uplifted and filled with their sometimes hidden insights. Let them gently and slowly impact on our lives as we read - and in the future when we recall their meaning for us. I hope this page will do this and more. I hope this example will help to express life in an insightful, penetrating but easy to read manner. And help us to question the lives we lead and the manner in which we live them. Our values show us different from our fellow human Who may have made with life a different bargain And follows lest stringent principles Which therefore may have fewer scruples
But for us it is like taking a capsule Which protects us from making lifef casual But a serious and important affair For to do our best is what we swear
We would try to do in each situation According to our principles our action Is designed to give as well as to take And our contribution we'd do well not to fake
Lest we be found out and a light shone Upon us and we might well feel very alone And not in the place we would try to seek Giving for the benefit of all, each day of the week.
--------------------------------------------------------- Do you have a value system? Which helps you a good person to become Thinking of others as well as yourself In reality not just reading from your favorite bookshelf
For life is really to be lived brief or long there is much to be retrieved And used in a contributing way All of our days including this day
And we would do well Upon our values not to dwell Lest we wish to make them anew Which indeed might bring a breakthrough
If effort, thought and energy were used To construct our system, we could not be accused Of not thinking about our fellow man If this renewal a new phase of our life began. All best, Martin
